Amplify Austin makes families into heroes
March 19, 2015
For the 2nd year in a row, AVANCE-Austin participated in Amplify Austin Day during March 5th and 6th. During the 24-hour festival of giving, over 500 Austin-area non-profits raised more than $7 million to benefit the community.
This year, we were able to exceed our goal and raised over $11,500! Our success would not have been possible without the support of our amazing 150 donors, board, staff, and our very own schools, who were monumental in social media outreach and fundraised nearly $2,000.
Our schools came up with team names and slogans to hold friendly competitions with each other each week until Amplify Austin Day. The mothers and fathers of our program raised money with creative endeavors such as holding raffles, selling crafts and food. Through this event, the families also gained leadership and teamwork skills and learned about philanthropy and fundraising for community engagement.
In the end, it was the Oak Meadows Elementary “Warriors” and Creedmoor Elementary “Cowgirls” who were able to raise the most funds and garner the most social media attention respectively.
On behalf of AVANCE-Austin, thank you and mil gracias to our supporters, board, fundraisers, and families for helping us Amplify Austin! Through our participation, we were able to increase awareness about our program’s mission and impact of unlocking America’s potential.
Contributions during Amplify will go toward providing quality parenting and early child education for Austin families.
