Welcoming new board member series: Meet Belinda

Continuing our series of introductions to our newest Board Members and leaders of our community, please welcome Belinda Arambula who has lived in Austin for 13 years (with just 1-and-a-half-year Hiatus to Savannah, GA), works as an Attorney at Burns, Anderson, Jury, and Brenner, LLP and enjoys running on her spare time. We asked Belinda few questions about her involvement with AVANCE-Austin and here´s what she had to say:

How did you first learn about AVANCE-Austin and why do you want to get involved?

Judge Maria Cantu Hexel introduced me to the group and after speaking with Cristina, I knew this was an organization I wanted to support. Being from El Paso and raised by two educators who taught ESL and citizenship classes, I’ve always wanted to find a way to follow in my parents’ footsteps.

What is your favorite thing about AVANCE-Austin?

The community.

How does being a board member at AVANCE-Austin make you feel?

I am very new to the process so right now; it is just excitement and a sense of responsibility to fundraise and participate in the activities when the world is a little more normal.

What was your favorite toy growing up?

My Bike.

What is your favorite childhood book?

Ramona and Beezus

What do you hope to accomplish as an AVANCE-Austin board member?

I hope to spread awareness of the mission of AVANCE, raise funds accordingly, and increase access to services.
