AVANCE-Austin Celebrates Outgoing Executive Director Marie Felan, Announces Search for New Executive Director

(Austin, Texas) – At the conclusion of another successful year that saw more than 240 mothers and children graduate from its signature parent-childhood education program, AVANCE-Austin announced that it’s Executive Director of five years, Marie Felan, will be stepping down from the organization to pursue personal priorities.

“I leave a very strong, committed leadership team, staff and Board and I am pleased with thestability and growth of the organization thanks to our donors, partners and ambassadors. I will miss my AVANCE familia so dearly” said Marie Felan.

Marie leaves the organization after an incredible five-year run that saw AVANCE-Austin double the number of individuals served, oversee a budget and staff increase that allowed for the expansion of programs and services offered, and celebrate its 20th anniversary. Marie’s official last day with the organization will be Friday, June 14th.

“We were so blessed to have Marie lead AVANCE-Austin in these critical years,” said Phillip Martin, AVANCE-Austin Board Chair. “She really took AVANCE-Austin to the next level. Her tireless commitment and passion for this organization and our community set a standard of excellence beyond what we could have hoped. We wish her the best of luck in the future, and know she will always be part of the AVANCE family.”

In the coming weeks, AVANCE-Austin will announce an Interim Executive Director to oversee the organization while the Board of Directors pursues a long-term Executive Director. A formal job description will be released in the coming days, with the Board anticipating to conduct initial and follow-up interviews in the summer months.

“Fortunately, Marie has put us in position to continue to grow as we strive to serve more and more at-risk families in the Central Texas region,” said Martin. “Our Board is committed to identifying thebest candidate possible to fill and expand her role, as we execute the vision we have set forth in the coming years to reach hundreds of additional families in our community. We look forward to working with all our friends and allies in the coming months and years as we look to make futures so bright for families in need.”
