Our First Graduation Feria!

We've been so eager to bring our graduation celebration back in person, we incorporated new ways to make it BIGGER and BETTER! This year, we invited some of our trusted community partners to share resources available to our families now that they've completed the 9-month Parent-Child Education Program.

Austin Achieve, Austin Community College, Austin ISD, IDEA, KIPP, and Pflugerville ISD all presented information during our graduation fair on May 26th and 27th to provide families with options for the next steps in their educational path.

We also had the Austin Fire Department, Capital Idea, Capital Metro, Child Inc, CommUnity Care, Dell Children's Health Plan, H-E-B Read 3, Manos de Cristo, Superior Healthplan, Thinkery, and Todos Juntos Learning Center also share resources, family-friendly activities, and provide free books during the celebration.

Food and diapers were also given to each graduating family and a vaccination clinic was held, in partnership with Austin Public Health and El Buen Samaritano, to encourage healthy living. Hot meals were made and served from AVANCE-Austin alumni who completed both parenting and entrepreneurship programs! With strategies gained in starting and growing a business, our alumni mom - Gaby - successfully fulfilled her largest order to date through AVANCE-Austin and Capital Metro-who sponsored the food!

During the fair, we were also presented with a plaque from Capital Metro in celebration of the 1,000,000 meals we helped deliver over the past year. Through our partnership with El Buen Samaritano and Capital Metro, we supplied hundreds of children and their families with boxes of nonperishable food monthly with deliveries made directly to their doorsteps.

Providing access to resources like food and education are just a couple of examples of how we are uplifting Latino families in our community. But, there's so much more we can provide, annually, with your support. Make a donation today to help sustain our programming and enable families to receive access to resources and quality education to build economic capital. An investment in AVANCE is an investment in the future of Austin.

A big thanks to all of our partners and volunteers for helping to make our graduation days a success! We appreciate Austin Junior Forum, Indeed, and Wells Fargo Bank for answering the call for hands-on volunteers to help set up tables, serve food and drinks, take pictures, and welcome families.
