AVANCE-AUSTIN NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
AUSTIN – January 24, 2020 – The Board of Directors of AVANCE-Austin announced today that Cristina Garza has been named Executive Director. Garza brings extensive expertise in program management, impact funding and community development. Her most recent employment has been as Director of Social Impact at the Mission Economic Development Corporation in Mission, Texas. Cristina’s personal mission is to work with underserved communities to ensure they have access to education and success.
“The work of AVANCE-Austin is crucial to at-risk families and children in our community,” said Board Chair, Jo Cassandra Cuevas. “Cristina’s strong background in developing relationships with constituents, corporations, nonprofits and elected officials will be crucial in leading us through the new chapter of growth that we are entering. The Board and Staff are excited to have her join us as we expand our programs and services, and provide support to an even greater number of Austin families.”
Cristina Garza will start her new position on February 17th, 2020. That same day, from 10:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m., AVANCE-Austin will host an Open House to welcome Cristina and provide some exciting announcements about the future of the agency.
