Welcoming new board member series: Meet Yajaira
Finishing up our series of introductions to our newest Board Members and 
leaders of our community, please welcome Yajaira Muñoz-McKiver who has lived in Austin for over 30 years! Yajaira works for Amerigroup and Dell Children´s Health Plan managing care for Medicaid. We asked Yajaira a few questions about her upcoming involvement with AVANCE-Austin and here´s what she had to say:
How did you first learn about AVANCE-Austin and why do you want to get involved?
I was introduced by Diego Silva, one of the Dell Children’s Health Plan Outreach Representatives and AVANCE-Austin’s long-time community partner when I started with DCHP in 2019.
What is your favorite thing about AVANCE-Austin?
I love to hear stories of how AVANCE-Austin has helped families to overcome challenges.
How does being a board member at AVANCE-Austin make you feel?
It makes me feel proud to be a small part of such an innovative organization.
What was your favorite toy growing up?
A little kitchen set.
What was your favorite childhood book?
I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
What do you hope to accomplish as an AVANCE-Austin board member?
I’d like to be more in tune with needs in the community and do all I can to assist.
